About this role
The Degree Services Manager is a key part of helping UAF students reach one of the most meaningful moments in their academic lives: graduation. In this role, you’ll guide a friendly, dedicated team that keeps degree audits accurate, supports academic records, and helps students and faculty navigate requirements with confidence. You’ll collaborate closely with advisors, departments, and campus partners to solve problems, improve processes, and make sure students feel supported every step of the way. If you enjoy working with people, value clarity and accuracy, and want to make a positive difference in students’ journeys, this role offers a chance to do work that truly matters.
The Degree Services Manager demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of academic regulations, catalog standards, FERPA, NCAA Progress Toward Degree requirements, and the complex systems that support academic records, including Banner, DegreeWorks, and OnBase. The role requires advanced skill in interpreting and applying policy, conducting detailed degree and compliance audits, resolving exceptions, and exercising professional judgment in high‑impact decisions that affect degree conferral and student eligibility. Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills support effective training, consultation, and cross‑campus coordination with faculty, advisors, departments, Athletics, and the Graduate School. The position also requires skill in process improvement, workflow design, and program administration across multiple campuses. Abilities include managing competing priorities, supervising staff, ensuring accuracy in high‑volume record processing, implementing policy and procedural changes, and maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance while serving as a trusted institutional expert.
A typical candidate brings progressively responsible experience in academic records, student services, or registrar operations, including direct work with degree audits, graduation processing, and policy interpretation. They also typically have experience with Banner, DegreeWorks, OnBase, FERPA, and NCAA Progress Toward Degree compliance, along with demonstrated skill in high‑impact academic decision‑making and staff supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and four years of progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
This recruitment is open to internal applicants only or those otherwise eligible to apply.
