About this role
GlobalFoundries is a semiconductor manufacturer developing power-efficient and high-performance solutions for major technology markets. The Device Engineer will design, execute, and analyze experiments for advanced silicon transistor technology, optimize device characteristics and manufacturability, analyze physical and electrical data, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering and customer design teams.
What you'll do:
- Optimize and develop semiconductor devices and processes to enable device characterization
- Perform specialized device design and development while applying an understanding of the process integration that leads to device characterization
- Optimize devices by applying semiconductor device physics and knowledge of associated device manufacturing processes
- Conduct analytical and physics-based modeling and apply process integration methods
- Enable new features efficiently for new technologies, features, or device introductions
- Collaborate with cross-functional technology development teams on projects and assignments as needed
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
What they're looking for:
- Education – Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Solid State Physics, or related field from an accredited degree program
- Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
- Prior related internship or co-op experience
- Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc
- Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making
- Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning & organizational skills
- Experience in data automation and scripting with Python, R, SQL, or JMP/JSL
