About this role
Meta is seeking a Technical Program Manager at the Specialist level to lead portfolio-defining programs across highly complex, cross-organizational technical domains. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to organizational leaders, translating ambiguous technical challenges into structured, executable program strategies. You will drive long-term efficiency improvements, influence technical direction, and bring clarity to problems that span multiple engineering and cross-functional organizations at scale.
Responsibilities
- Partner with organizational leaders to define and drive technical strategy, program vision, and long-term roadmaps for portfolio-defining initiatives spanning multiple engineering organizations
- Develop and own best-in-class program structures for highly complex, cross-organizational programs, including milestone definition, dependency mapping, risk frameworks, and launch criteria
- Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple technical domains, advising organizational leaders on technical direction, architectural trade-offs, and systemic risks and opportunities
- Conduct comprehensive technical assessments across large, complex data sets and program portfolios to identify trends, surface risks proactively, and provide strategic guidance on organizational priorities
- Drive cross-organizational alignment by building relationships with directors and resolving commitment gaps, misaligned priorities, and complex workstream blockers with confounding factors
- Produce communications that bring new levels of clarity to technically complex and ambiguous problems, serving as long-term reference points for organizational decision-making across all levels of the company
- Leverage AI-integrated workflows to redesign program management processes to improve efficiency and scalability, orchestrating multiple AI tools to improve speed, quality, and analytical depth across the program portfolio
- Build and lead TPM community initiatives, including creating playbooks for best practices, representing the TPM function in company-wide forums, and partnering with leadership to address organizational gaps
- Proactively manage cross-organizational risk by instituting contingency planning, SWOT analysis, and structural changes that permanently resolve sources of recurring risk
- Define and track technical metrics and program health indicators that illuminate systemic problems, empower teams, and drive data-informed decision-making across the organization
Minimum Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in technical program management, leading large-scale, cross-functional programs in highly complex and ambiguous technical domains
- Experience serving as a subject matter expert across multiple technical domains, influencing technical direction and roadmaps in partnership with organizational leaders
- Experience developing and driving program strategy for portfolio-defining initiatives, including defining program structure, managing cross-organizational dependencies, and leading teams through significant change
- Experience producing executive-level communications that explain ambiguous, technically complex problems to senior stakeholders
- Experience proactively identifying, prioritizing, and resolving systemic technical risks and cross-organizational alignment gaps at the director level and above
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing program portfolios that span both hardware and software engineering organizations, including new technology integration with undefined goals and aggressive schedules
- Experience integrating AI tools and agents into program management workflows to measurably improve delivery quality, speed, and analytical outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Experience influencing external stakeholders or shaping policies in addition to internal organizational strategy
- Experience building TPM community programs, including authoring best-practice playbooks, leading org-wide events, or driving hiring and onboarding initiatives
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Compensation
- $199,000/year - $272,000/year; Country: US; Bonus eligible; Equity eligible
