Meadow Gold has immediate job openings for a skilled Sr. Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to perform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal support of others, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition. Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. Work under minimal supervision, exercising some judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

Senior Fleet Mechanic rate requires demonstrated advanced diagnostic competency, completion of advanced training, and possess at least 4 recognized ASE certifications (T2 through T8).

OUR MECHANICS FOR THIS POSITION CAN MAKE UP TO:

  • $35/hr base rate
    • $0.25 for each additional ASE Certification
    • Additional $2.50 for L2 Certification
    • Additional $2.25 for 608 Certification
    • Additional $2.00 for night shift work

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to moderately difficult vehicle and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and repairs
  • Maintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive lines, u-joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other equipment as necessary
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Use shop management system and other electronic systems available
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Identify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Interact with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Work in accordance with all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT)
  • Complete work orders and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining high quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles to transport equipment back to shop for repair, if appropriate
  • Keep management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concerns
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, utilizing continuous improvement mindset
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area which may include wearing of all required personal protective equipment in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Assist and mentor less experienced mechanics

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Refrigeration license preferred 
  • 2 to 4 years of mechanic, maintenance, or related experience
  • Preferred experience with INSITE, DL, NAVSTAR and other service tools
  • Experience with FWHA / BIT requirements.
  • Experienced with brake systems or certified with BENDIX /WABCO.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and crawl and possibly sit for virtually the entire shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others
  • Must be able to work in a dusty, greasy environment, with moderate noise and cold and hot temperature ranges
  • Must be able to follow all required work safe practices
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
