Job Description

Job Summary:

The registered dietitian (RD) per diem, collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to provide general nutrition care that is integrated with overall goals of care for adult and/or pediatric patients atrisk for nutrition problemsininpatientandoutpatientsettings. The RDin this classification works in inpatient or outpatient pediatric and adult settings to provide nutrition care for patients with a wide range of clinical problems.Primary responsibilities include nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention and evaluating clinical outcomes; coordination of daily work for dietetictechnician(s)(DTR)assignedtoarea;participationincompliance,departmentprojects,and quality performance improvement efforts; active involvement on interdisciplinary teams and committees;andcontributionstothesupervisionofdieteticinterns, andteachingassignedclasses. TheRDmaintainsprofessionalcompetenceandcontinuingeducationperregulatoryrequirements.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university - Successful completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice experience, approved or accredited by Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). A majority of the clinical training must have taken place in a large teaching hospital. - Registered Dietitian(RD) or eligible to sit for the RD registration examination and passes exam within 6 months of completing ACEND-accredited supervised practice program. An RD-eligible employee works under the direct supervision of an RD. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION - Master’s degree - Majority of work experience in a large teaching hospital - Fluency in second language REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS - Registered Dietitian(RD) at time of hire or within 6 months of hire
