About this role
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a mission-driven health insurance organization focused on improving the health and well-being of its members and communities. The Digital Experience Intern will help build and improve web, mobile, API, data, and AI-enabled products while gaining experience with Agile engineering practices, digital quality, user insights, and collaborative product development.
What you'll do:
- Digital Product Development: Build and improve responsive web and mobile experiences, APIs, and supporting services that make it easier for members and customers to complete important tasks
- AI-Enhanced Experiences:Explore AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and large language models to improve digital experiences, accelerate development, and turn feedback into useful product improvements
- Member Experience & Insights:Use research, data, experimentation, and feedback from digital products to understand user needs and surface actionable insights
- Digital Quality:Help test experiences and services for usability, accessibility, performance, reliability, and task completion across supported devices and platforms
- Agile Collaboration:Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Collaborate with developers, designers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver useful digital experiences
- Capstone Project:Tackle a real-world digital experience challenge, such as improving a web or mobile journey, building an AI-supported experience, creating an automated feedback loop, or developing an analytics solution
- Mentorship & Training:Receive guidance from experienced engineers and participate in workshops to grow your technical, product, and professional skills
What they're looking for:
- High School diploma required
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field
- Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a drive to learn
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience or interest in one or more of the following: frontend, mobile, or web development and user interface design, Artificial intelligence, machine learning, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development, Data analysis, experimentation, statistics, or data visualization, APIs, automated testing, Git, cloud platforms, or collaborative software development
- Therefore, you will need to live within commuting distance from Wednesday, May 26 – Friday, July 30, 2027
