About the Department

The Director of Event Services Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for conference and event services across the college’s venues, including the conference center, theaters, meeting spaces, and event facilities. This role manages the Event Operations team and oversees event planning, logistics, and service delivery to ensure seamless execution and exceptional client experiences. The Director establishes operational standards, coordinates with campus partners, manages complex and large-scale events, and oversees systems, staffing, and budgets that support efficient event operations. This position also collaborates with the sales and business development team to ensure operational readiness and continuously evaluates processes to improve service quality and performance.

Position Duties

1. Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all conference and event services across the college’s conference center, theaters, meeting spaces, and event venues.

2. Provide leadership and oversight to Event Operations team responsible for event planning, logistics, and client support ensuring seamless coordination and exceptional service delivery.

3. Establish operational standards, service protocols, and event management procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality client experiences.

4. Oversee event logistics including scheduling, room setup, audiovisual coordination, security, facilities support, and vendor management.

5. Collaborate with campus partners such as facilities, ITS/AV, security, catering, facilities/ABM, and parking to ensure effective event execution.

6. Manage complex and large-scale events including conferences, performances, commencements, and institutional programs.

7. Maintain event management systems, scheduling platforms, and internal processes to improve communication, efficiency, and accuracy.

8. Ensure compliance with college policies, facility use guidelines, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.

9. Monitor event operations, staffing needs, and service delivery to continuously improve operational performance.

10. Manage operational budgets, staffing plans, resource allocation, and billing process to support efficient service delivery.

11. Support the sales and business development team by ensuring operational feasibility, capacity planning, and service alignment for incoming events.

12. Evaluate event outcomes and client feedback to enhance service standards and operational effectiveness.

13. Lead weekly 10-day operations meeting

14. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Hospitality Management, Communications or closely related field. 

Five (5) years of professional experience in meetings, conferences, or event planning/operations.

At least two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience managing event staff, coordinators, or operational teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Hospitality Management, Communications or closely related field. 

Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in meeting or event planning/operations.

Three (3) or more years of experience supervising event services staff or operational teams. 

Experience working in conference centers, higher education venues, performing arts venues, or large-scale event facilities. 

Familiarity with event management systems or scheduling software (e.g., event booking or space management platforms).

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment; occasionally responsible for pushing tables, handling chairs and some light

lifting; may have prolonged periods of standing. Traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, client’s sites, industry events and conferences; frequently listening to and speaking with clients. Works flexible schedule with weekend and evening hours.
