About this role

UAF Community and Technical College is recruiting for a Director of Operations to take the lead in strategic, operational, and facilities management efforts.

This role serves as a strategic and operational advisor to the Dean and Associate Deans, translating high-level priorities into effective workflows, organizational structures, and resource plans. The position leads cross-departmental initiatives, evaluates centralized services like IT and administration, and delivers data-driven analyses to guide executive decision-making.

Additionally, the role oversees physical facilities across all college locations, serving as the primary liaison to university-wide services, custodial teams, and campus safety. It coordinates space allocation, leases, maintenance, renovations, and branding to ensure safe, functional environments, while escalating critical facility risks to leadership.

As a direct supervisor, the position leads mission-critical IT and administrative teams—handling recruitment, performance management, workload distribution, and process optimization. The role bridge-communicates between leadership and staff to align operations with institutional goals.

Financially, it directs roughly $110,000 in annual IT funds and maintains strict compliance for department Procurement Cards (Procards), managing coverage gaps and serving as primary custodian for the central custodial Procard.

The successful candidate will bring their knowledge of BOR policies and UA regulations, UA protocol, academic guidelines, and their experience working with UA management, faculty and staff at all levels, as this will be essential to effectively carry out this role. The ability to collaborate with others throughout the university and to synthesize information from multiple sources to create comprehensive reports and recommend appropriate course of action is critical in this role.

In this position you will also use your skills to create and implement effective long range and strategic plans, develop and recommend programs/projects, and balance the needs of programs, the college and the broader university. To be most successful in the role you will come with experience managing budgets, personnel and facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in higher education administration, business administration, or related field and a minimum of six years progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, with supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
