The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with the Central Family Life Center (CFLC) to find qualified candidates for an Educational & Employment Specialist in Staten Island, NY. CFLC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Staten Island residents by providing programs and services that promote self-sufficiency, well-being, and community empowerment. With over 30 years of service, CFLC supports youth, families, and underserved populations through education, workforce development, and community initiatives.
The Educational & Employment Specialist helps program participants connect with employment opportunities, job readiness training, and continuing education. The role develops contacts and networks within the public and private sectors to support employment-related services and economic stability for individuals and families in need. Responsibilities also include supporting job readiness and workforce development, career counseling, employer outreach, job placement, resume writing, and interview preparation. The position also prepares reports and maintains appropriate filing and documentation systems.

This position is located in Staten Island, NY.
  • Assist participants with job search, placement, and retention aligned with their career goals.
  • Build relationships with employers and develop job opportunities in the community.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate participants’ skills, interests, and employment needs.
  • Provide job readiness support, including resume assistance and interview preparation.
  • Support program initiatives, including youth employment and anti-violence programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and participant documentation.
  • Provide referrals and support for social services, education, and career pathways.
  • Assist with outreach efforts, social media, and development of program materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1 year of proven experience in training development, mentoring, recruiting, or interviewing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Experience using design tools (e.g., Canva, Publisher) preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
USD $19.23 - USD $21.98 /Hr.
