About this role

Northrop Grumman is seeking an early-career Electrical Engineer to join our Avionics Analog and Power Hardware Design team supporting the development of advanced spacecraft electronic systems. The selected candidate will contribute to the design, analysis, simulation, integration, and testing of analog and power conversion circuits used in space applications. This opportunity is ideal for a recent master's degree graduate with a strong academic background in power electronics and hands-on experience gained through university coursework, laboratory assignments, academic research, or engineering design projects. The engineer will work alongside experienced hardware design engineers throughout the electronic hardware development lifecycle, from initial concept and circuit design through hardware integration and testing. ## Roles and Responsibilities - Support the design and development of analog and power electronics circuits, including DC/DC converters, voltage regulators, power distribution, filtering, and signal conditioning. - Perform circuit analysis and simulation to evaluate electrical performance, efficiency, stability, and operating characteristics. - Develop and review electrical schematics, perform component selection, and support printed wiring board (PWB) design activities. - Support hardware prototyping, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and design verification. - Use electrical laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and electronic loads, to evaluate circuit performance. - Document engineering analyses, simulation results, test procedures, and design verification results. - Collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and support spacecraft hardware development. ## Basic Qualifications - Be completing or have completed a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, with relevant graduate-level coursework, research, or a concentration in power electronics, power conversion, or analog circuit design. - Have a fundamental understanding of power electronics, including switching power converters, power semiconductor devices, and basic analog circuit design principles. - Have experience applying electrical circuit design principles through university coursework, laboratory assignments, academic research, internships, or engineering projects. - Have experience using electrical circuit simulation or analysis tools, such as LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, SIMPLIS, or equivalent tools. - Have hands-on laboratory experience with electronic circuits, including circuit measurements, testing, or troubleshooting. - Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required). No prior professional engineering experience is required. Relevant academic projects, research, and internship experience are acceptable. ## Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration or research focus in Power Electronics. - Academic design or research experience involving DC/DC converters, such as buck, boost, flyback, forward, or other switching converter topologies. - Experience designing, simulating, building, or testing a power conversion circuit as part of a graduate-level project or laboratory course. - Familiarity with feedback control, voltage regulation, converter stability, efficiency analysis, or magnetics design. - Experience with schematic capture or PCB design tools, such as Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, Siemens/Mentor Graphics, or equivalent. - Familiarity with analog circuit design involving operational amplifiers, MOSFETs, diodes, filters, and signal conditioning. - Basic understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal considerations, component derating, or worst-case circuit analysis. - Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. - Overall cumulative GPA of 3.7/4.0 or higher. We encourage candidates to highlight relevant graduate-level coursework, design projects, laboratory experience, and research involving power electronics or analog circuit design.
