Electrical Engineer, Engineering Rotational Program

Komatsu develops technologies, equipment, and services for construction, mining, forklift, industrial, and forestry markets. The Electrical Engineer in the Engineering Rotational Program participates in a two-year, project-based engineering residency involving product engineering, manufacturing operations, sales and service, and product support. The role performs engineering evaluations, develops solutions, supports engineering processes and standards, investigates field problems, and gains hands-on experience through mine visits and cross-functional assignments.

What you'll do:

• Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements
• Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests that have well defined requirements and desired outcomes
• Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to solve problems that are associated with engineering projects or evaluations
• Take responsibility for one's own learning and development for the mutual benefit of one's self and the organization
• Act as a group leader for those who are supporting components, products and/or services as well as continual improvements in engineering processes
• Participate in and support programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices
• Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services
• Participate in effective Change Management to achieve the desired organizational outcomes by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed
• Determine the cause of a field problem and propose corrective action if appropriate
• Perform basic engineering evaluations, including calculations and testing as required, and consult with more
• Make field trips to mines to observe machines in operation and gain an understanding of their application parameters. Develop ability to recognize problems and recommend corrective action

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required
• Internship or full time experience in engineering design, machine application, mining industry, desired
• Experienced in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired
• Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired
• Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired
• Experience in cross-functional team assignment(s), highly desired
• Certifications or demonstrated project management, desired
• Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial
