Electrical Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) (Early-to-Mid Career)

Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. The Electrical Engineer will support the design and application of medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear solutions by translating customer requirements into high-quality, cost-effective engineering designs and developing technical documentation, schematics, and bills of material. The role also serves as a project engineering lead and supports manufacturing, service teams, and customers in resolving technical issues and improving designs.

What you'll do:

• Developing complete engineering documentation for customer approval and MV switchgear manufacturing
• Creating accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material using Siemens engineering configurator tool
• Owning technical deliverables as a project engineering lead, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution
• Supporting manufacturing, service teams, and customers to ensure designs are built and delivered as intended
• Collaborating to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement
• Having a desire to grow your knowledge in the power systems engineering field with the support of an experienced team

What they're looking for:

• • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• • One to Four (or more) years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution systems, with an emphasis on MV switchgear
• • Experience with electrical drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software.)
• • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future
• • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred)
• • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear
• • Experience with Air Insulated MV switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
• • Experience developing or using smart CAD blocks
