About this role
Garver is an employee-owned engineering, planning, and environmental services firm focused on various sectors including buildings and transportation. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) to support the assessment and development of electrical designs for building projects, while coordinating with project managers and other disciplines.
What you'll do:
- Support the assessment of existing facilities and the development of electrical designs in support of various Buildings projects
- Investigating, planning, design, and commissioning of existing facilities components and systems
- Facility electrical, lighting, telecommunications, security, and fire alarm systems
- Coordination with other support disciplines and coordination with regional offices
- Assisting project managers in the design of projects
- Following quality assurance and quality control plans
- Gaining hands-on experience through site visits and occasional travel to project locations
- Ability to communicate with and interact with project team members, building owner representatives, and architectural clients
- Willingness to participate in client relations alongside project managers and senior staff
- Foundational knowledge of building components and systems
- Proficiency in CAD and BIM design software to assist in producing construction drawings
- Ability to perform electrical related calculations with oversight
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an electrical focus from an ABET-accredited university of college
- Registered Engineer In Training (EIT)
- 1 to 5 years of building design and construction industry experience
- Experience completing electrical designs for building projects, including detailed plans and specifications under the guidance of a licensed engineer
- Growing technical competence in building electrical systems including power distribution systems, lighting systems, and telecommunications systems, with a willingness to learn and expand expertise
- Experience with Autodesk Revit
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
- Worked as an engineer sub-consultant to architectural building design firms
