About this role
North Star Scientific Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to provide engineering support for ruggedized radar and communication systems. The role involves assisting with various engineering tasks including software development, circuit design, and system testing while collaborating with experienced engineers.
What you'll do:
- Provides engineering support for the design, analysis, integration, testing, and documentation of ruggedized radar and communication systems while gaining practical engineering experience
- Assists with software development, FPGA firmware development, electronic circuit design, PCB schematic capture and layout, electronic assembly and subassembly characterization, hardware integration, system testing, data analysis, and technical documentation
- Supports the planning and execution of engineering and environmental testing, prototype fabrication, and verification activities
- Participates in design reviews and collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement, and technicians
- Performs a variety of engineering assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers
What they're looking for:
- Accepted into or pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
- Fundamental understanding of analog and digital circuit design
- Basic understanding of software development and embedded systems
- Familiarity with FPGA architecture and firmware development concepts
- Basic knowledge of PCB schematic capture and layout
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite
- Ability to learn new engineering concepts, software, and laboratory equipment quickly
- May be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
