About this role
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions provides engineering, procurement, and construction services across the nuclear sector and related energy and infrastructure industries. The Electrical Engineer Intern will support design engineering and construction projects by reviewing electrical documentation, preparing calculations and drawings, coordinating equipment and vendors, managing engineering data, and collaborating with project teams.
What you'll do:
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and related drawings
- Analyze requirements from engineering standards, contracts, and proposals
- Prepare basic calculations and drawings per Kiewit standards
- Draft equipment specifications for major electrical components
- Evaluate bids
- Coordinate equipment contracts with vendors
- Maintain engineering records and lists
- Manage cable and raceway data using scheduling software
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and vendors
- Learn design standards, engineering codes, and policies
What they're looking for:
- * Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, in good standing
- * Interest in power systems engineering
- * Strong organizational and communication skills
- * Collaborative approach
- * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; willingness to learn department design software
- * Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access
- * Regular, reliable attendance
- * Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- * Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- * Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
- * Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
