About this role
Shimmick Corporation is a construction company specializing in infrastructure projects and electrical scopes. The Electrical Field Engineer Intern will support engineering tasks, field inspections, construction administration, project documentation, reporting, meeting coordination, community outreach, and budget-related activities under the supervision of senior team members.
What you'll do:
- Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
- Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids
- Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used
- Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans
- Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
- Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests
- Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital)
- Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers
- Attending and taking minutes for the development team as requested
- Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports
- Assisting with community outreach duties as needed
- Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings
What they're looking for:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship
- Must have completed at least 1 year of study
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
- Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
- Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
