About this role
Axiom Consultants, a Ruekert & Mielke company, is an employee-owned engineering firm serving commercial, residential, and institutional markets. The Electrical Engineer Student Intern will assist with electrical design, planning, project development, calculations, documentation, collaboration, and construction administration while gaining hands-on experience and mentorship.
What you'll do:
- Assist with electrical design and drafting for diverse project types including: + Sizing of electrical services, transformers, switchboards, and distribution systems + Perform load calculations and equipment sizing + Coordinate utility service requirements + Design standby and emergency power systems + Lighting design including photometrics and lighting control systems + Low-voltage and technology system design including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and wired/wireless networks
- Support the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates
- Perform data analysis and calculations under supervision
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers and architects to deliver solutions
- Participate in team meetings and client communication as needed
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Construction Administration and site visits
What they're looking for:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong technical aptitude with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team setting
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative environment
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software a plus
