About this role

Ardurra is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for its Asheville, NC office. The role supports electrical engineering and design projects involving power distribution, lighting, load calculations, equipment selection, documentation, field investigations, and site visits under the supervision of experienced engineers.

What you'll do:

  • Under supervision, performs entry-level electrical engineering duties of moderate difficulty, gaining exposure to electrical systems and engineering projects
  • Assists with electrical design tasks, including power distribution, lighting systems, electrical load calculations, equipment selection, and preparation of design documents
  • Supports engineers with project data collection, technical calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation
  • Assists with reviewing electrical drawings, equipment schedules, and project specifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Supports field investigations and site visits to document existing electrical systems and conditions
  • Applies basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electrical systems to contribute to project deliverables
  • Gains experience using engineering and design software to assist with electrical system layouts, calculations, drafting, and documentation
  • Supports project teams with various technical and administrative assignments as needed
  • Develops an understanding of applicable building codes, electrical codes, industry standards, and design practices
  • Specific activities vary by assignment and project needs

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Interest in electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and building electrical design
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals and independently
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering/design software is preferred but not required
