Electrical Engineering Intern

Loram UK Ltd is an employer of railroad maintenance equipment. The Electrical Engineering Intern supports the design of custom railroad maintenance equipment through product research, calculations, documentation, CAD drawings, testing, and data analysis under close supervision.

What you'll do:

• Assists in product or system design under the direct guidance of another engineer or designer
• Help determine feasibility of designing equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors
• Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine possible design improvements
• Confers with research and other engineering personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop/modify designs as required
• Prepares product or system layouts and detailed documentation
• Prepares and compiles necessary calculations to support product designs
• Assists with machine or systems tests and compiles and organizes data
• Analyzes test data and reports to help determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
• Perform engineering duties and subtasks in area of discipline of low complexity for a project or projects

What they're looking for:

• Pursuing Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Achieved junior status or higher
• The individual shall also have completed the "core" coursework for his/her chosen discipline
• Ability and willingness to learn the necessary design tools as required for area of discipline. (Autocad 2D/3D,Solid Modeling, etc.)
• Ability and willingness to learn application and integration design skills in area of discipline
• Office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, using phone & computer
• May lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally
• Can tolerate variable and sometimes challenging conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment
