Electrical Engineering Intern, Summer 2027

BAE Systems is a defense, aerospace, and security company serving missions across space and other domains. The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the design, analysis, verification, testing, packaging, layout, and harnessing of high-reliability electronic systems for space-based applications.

What you'll do:

• Support design and analysis of hardware for space-based, high-reliability electronic systems including:
• Modeling and simulation
• Analysis (WCA, PSA, reliability, signal integrity, risk mitigation)
• Digital designs may utilize FPGAs, microprocessors, soft-core processors, digital filters, image processing algorithms, and high speed SERDES communication interfaces/protocols like XAUI, sRIO, PCIe, and SpaceWire for communication and data processing for a variety of sensors – focal planes, detectors, gimbals, phased arrays
• Analog designs typically focus on general analog, mixed signal and power supply electronic design
• Develop modules for FPGA designs and perform digital verification of FPGA modules
• Support design and implementation of test fixtures including test plans for both chip-level and board level environments and create reusable circuits that can be utilized across multiple projects
• Work with Parts Engineers to select and approve EEE parts to meet program requirements
• Development of PWB packaging
• Layout of PWB designs
• Develop harnessing for electrical systems
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule

• Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2027. We will also accept students enrolled in a graduate degree program
• Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education
• Excellent communication skills, as well as presentation skills
