About this role
BAE Systems is a defense, aerospace, and security company serving missions across space and other domains. The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the design, analysis, verification, testing, packaging, layout, and harnessing of high-reliability electronic systems for space-based applications.
What you'll do:
- Support design and analysis of hardware for space-based, high-reliability electronic systems including:
- Modeling and simulation
- Analysis (WCA, PSA, reliability, signal integrity, risk mitigation)
- Digital designs may utilize FPGAs, microprocessors, soft-core processors, digital filters, image processing algorithms, and high speed SERDES communication interfaces/protocols like XAUI, sRIO, PCIe, and SpaceWire for communication and data processing for a variety of sensors – focal planes, detectors, gimbals, phased arrays
- Analog designs typically focus on general analog, mixed signal and power supply electronic design
- Develop modules for FPGA designs and perform digital verification of FPGA modules
- Support design and implementation of test fixtures including test plans for both chip-level and board level environments and create reusable circuits that can be utilized across multiple projects
- Work with Parts Engineers to select and approve EEE parts to meet program requirements
- Development of PWB packaging
- Layout of PWB designs
- Develop harnessing for electrical systems
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule

- U.S. Citizenship Required: Yes
- U.S. Person Required: Yes
- Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2027. We will also accept students enrolled in a graduate degree program
- Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education
- Excellent communication skills, as well as presentation skills
