Electrical Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Cummings Electrical is an electrical contractor delivering electrical construction projects across Texas and the nation. The Electrical Engineering Summer Intern will work with experienced electrical engineers on electrical design, power system studies, and calculation verification while gaining practical experience supporting electrical construction.

What you'll do:

• Electrical Design using AutoCAD
• Short-Circuit, Arc Flash, and Coordination Studies using SKM Power Tools
• Hand Calculations using Excel to check program calculation results

What they're looking for:

• At least 2 years credit towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
• Motivated self-starter with an interest to apply academic training within product design
• Flexible commitment 20-40 hours per work week during the length of internship
• Applicant must reside in TX (DFW area) or have the ability to relocate and secure their own housing for the duration of the program
• Repeat the same mental activities
• Ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed and typical business office equipment, including computer hardware
• Regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools or controls (phone, computer, printer etc.); and reach with hands and arms
• Work performed causes fatigue of eyes, fingers and other facilities because of continuous use of motor senses
• Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges
• May be occasionally be asked to lift, stoop, kneel, and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands
