Electrical Intern

Corpus Christi Housing Authority & Affiliates is seeking an Electrical Intern to assist the Maintenance Department with basic electrical maintenance and repair activities. The intern will gain practical experience in electrical systems, preventive maintenance, and customer service while supporting licensed electricians and maintenance staff.

What you'll do:

• Assist with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential units and Authority facilities
• Learn to troubleshoot electrical issues under the supervision of qualified staff
• Assist with replacing:
• Light fixtures
• Switches
• Electrical outlets (as permitted under supervision)
• Ballasts
• LED lighting
• Smoke detectors
• GFCI receptacles
• Assist in preventive maintenance inspections of electrical equipment
• Help install energy-efficient lighting and electrical components

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing
• Basic understanding of electrical principles
• Willingness to learn residential electrical systems
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work independently after receiving instruction

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
