What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electromechanical Technologist to join our Electronic Neutron Generator (ELNG) and isolator development teams.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Perform a variety of duties in support of technical activities related to our products' development
Support production with product manufacturing issues
Problem-solve assembly and disassembly of our development products
Build and document the assembly of development components
Provide feedback to component design engineers
Maintain ownership of laboratory space and equipment
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$63,800 - $123,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience with trades, soldering, and hand tools or similar work
Experience working with design or production teams
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
High school diploma, plus five (3) or more years of directly related experience
Experience in Power Source Technologies, Neutron Generators, or Energetics production or design environments
Experience with encapsulation processes
Experience with machining
Experience with laser welding
Experience with laser marking
Experience with x-ray, CT, or similar imaging
IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification and IPC-A-610 soldering inspection certification
Experience working at a national laboratory or similar security setting
Ability to work independently and team with a group of people who have diverse skill sets
Ability to deliver to their customers with excellence
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills
About Our Team:
Department 7582 is responsible for the lifecycle management of Electronic Neutron Generators (ELNGs) and the development of isolators. Activities include sustainment of stockpiled components, supporting components in production, developing qualified products, and advancing future designs.
Posting Duration:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
