About this role

RTX is an aerospace and defense company developing solutions for complex defense challenges. The Embedded Security Software Engineer will design, code, integrate, test, and document critical real-time embedded software for radar, sensor, guidance, and fire control systems while contributing across the software development lifecycle.

What you'll do:

  • Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions. Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions
  • Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase
  • Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis
  • Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on Secure Software Solution implementations
  • Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers
  • Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines
  • Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity
  • Work Location: Onsite at our El Segundo, CA Campus
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

What they're looking for:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from accredited institution. Degree must be obtained by start date
  • Experience developing, and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl or similar
  • Real time embedded software development experience
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment with strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
  • Knowledge of Software Development Processes and experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, implementation, and testing
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated build environments
