About this role

General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers high-technology solutions for defense and scientific applications. The company is seeking an entry-level Embedded Software Engineer to join a cross-functional Idaho Scientific team designing and deploying secure system solutions involving embedded software, CPU design, cryptographic cores, system-on-chip architectures, and hardened operating systems.

What you'll do:

  • As a software engineer for our Idaho Scientific group, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for designing and deploying secure system solutions through novel CPU design, crypto cores, purpose-built system-on-a-chip architectures, and hardened operating systems. Our solutions are the foundation for how military systems will remain safe and secure in the conflicts of the future

What they're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or Engineering, Science, or Math
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
  • This position is ideally fully on-site while you learn, but some flex arrangements are available based on manager discretion
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
  • Strong foundation in relevant coursework or projects: embedded C/C++, RTOS, digital logic, Verilog/SystemVerilog, FPGA development, or ASIC design flow
  • Evidence of hands-on problem solving: personal, academic, internship, lab, or open-source work that shows candidates can design, debug, test, and document technical solutions
  • Curiosity and collaboration: clear communication, willingness to learn quickly, and an ability to work thoughtfully with hardware and software engineers in a security-focused environment
  • Clear understanding of the software engineering concepts, principles, theories, software development process, and agile methodology
  • Clear understanding of the software development process, with agile experience
  • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success

Benefits:

  • An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.
  • Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)
  • 401k matching
  • Flex time off
  • Paid parental leave
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Health & wellness programs
  • Employee resource and social groups
  • Some flex arrangements are available based on manager discretion
