Join Mutual of Omaha's Enterprise Output Management organization as an Engineer II or Engineer III and play a key role in shaping the future of enterprise communications technology. This position provides technical leadership for modern applications, integrations, APIs and delivery platforms that support communication composition and distribution across the enterprise.
You'll help define engineering standards, drive modernization initiatives and apply cloud, automation, AI and quality engineering practices to deliver scalable and reliable solutions. - Engineer III: $135,000 - $155,000, plus annual bonus opportunity

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Serve as the technical Solution Lead for Enterprise Output Management (EOM), providing architectural direction and technical leadership.
- Design, develop, test and support scalable applications, APIs, integrations and event-driven solutions that enable enterprise communication composition, delivery, print and digital output capabilities.
- Lead modernization initiatives through cloud-first architecture, platform engineering, automation, containerization and DevOps practices, helping drive the future state of enterprise output delivery.
- Define technical standards, engineering practices and solution patterns that promote scalability, reliability, maintainability, security and operational excellence.
- Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams to translate strategic objectives into technical roadmaps and implementation plans.
- Drive quality engineering and testing strategies, including automated testing, API testing, performance testing and continuous validation throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain APIs, integrations and backend services while optimizing performance, throughput, resiliency and system observability.
- Evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including AI-enabled engineering and testing capabilities, to accelerate delivery, improve quality and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Mentor engineers and contractors, fostering technical growth, knowledge sharing and engineering best practices across the organization.
- Support the evolution of the Enterprise Output Modernization Center of Excellence by establishing reusable patterns, standards and automation capabilities.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Engineer II: 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated progression in solution design and technical leadership responsibilities.
Engineer III: 7+ years of software engineering, solution design or technical leadership experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience in Java and modern application development frameworks, including Spring Boot.
- Proficiency in one or more additional programming languages such as Python, TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
- Experience designing and supporting REST APIs, event-driven architectures, system integrations and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and quality engineering practices, including Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, Postman, SOAP UI and/or similar technologies.
- Experience with API, backend, integration and performance testing strategies.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern engineering practices, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation and DevOps.
- Experience with data technologies, including SQL, ETL validation, data quality testing and performance analysis tools such as JMeter.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development, AI-enabled testing and emerging engineering practices that improve quality and delivery efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical modernization initiatives, influence architecture decisions and align technology solutions with business strategy.
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions across engineering, architecture and business teams.

- Ability to work remotely with reliable high-speed internet access while residing in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with platform engineering, event bus architectures, MuleSoft, document intelligence solutions or enterprise-scale communication platforms.
- Experience serving as a technical lead, solution lead or engineering lead responsible for setting technical direction across multiple teams.
This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.
