About this role
Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the Systems & SaaS Engineer is the senior IT Operations staff member responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise systems and SaaS platforms across a hybrid cloud and on-premise environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft 365, Azure, and integrated SaaS applications. The Engineer enables a modern, automated, AI-ready digital workplace, maintains system reliability, drives integration and automation, provides technical guidance and serves as the senior escalation point and design authority for all systems and SaaS matters. The Systems & SaaS Engineer shares Event and On-call coverage responsibilities on a rotation with the IT team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems Architecture & Engineering (Core Function)
- Architect, administer, and support enterprise systems across cloud and on-premise environments, including servers, operating systems, and SaaS platforms.
- Manage Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and Azure services; perform installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of all systems; own complex and non-standard systems work escalated from the IT Operations team.
- Ensure systems and data recovery resilience.
SaaS & Application Management
- Administer and integrate enterprise SaaS applications, ensuring secure and efficient operation across the full application lifecycle (configuration, optimization, decommissioning).
- Support identity-integrated applications leveraging SSO, MFA, and conditional access in partnership with the Security & Identity Engineer.
Automation, Integration & AI Enablement
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and platforms such as Power Automate; enable and support AI-driven tools across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency; integrate systems and applications through APIs and middleware in partnership with Business Strategy & Analytics.
Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering
- Architect and support hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Azure/AWS/GCP-based workloads and integrations; participate in design and implementation of scalable cloud solutions.
- Collaborate with the Network Engineer and Security & Identity Engineer to ensure infrastructure is secure and optimized.
Security, Governance & Compliance
- Implement and maintain system security configurations aligned with governance policies; ensure compliance with standards for data protection, access control, and system hardening.
- Partner with the Security & Identity Engineer to enforce Zero Trust principles.
Projects, Change & Budget
- Develop and execute systems technology projects to completion, discuss challenges and key decision points with IT Leadership.
- Participate in and drive the organization’s change management process for all systems changes.
- Participate in the planning, adherence, and analysis of the systems portion of the operational budget; recommend systems/SaaS investments.
- Manage systems & SaaS vendors; coordinate maintenance windows and resolve systems access issues.
Collaboration, Guidance & Reporting
- Generate and publish metrics, reports, and dashboards for IT Leadership.
- Provide guidance, training, and escalation support to the IT Operations team.
- Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and external partners.
Event & On-Call Support
Provide on-site Event and remote On-Call support on a shared rotation.
Governance, Documentation & Standards
- Develop and maintain documentation including SOPs, installation methodologies, project plans, and environment configurations.
- Adhere to all company and departmental policies, procedures, and operating standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
The projected annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 per year. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries for new employees are frequently not at the top of the applicable salary range.
