Job Summary

L1 Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer - SD-WAN, WAN & Backbone Monitoring

Key Responsibilities

Network Monitoring & Operations Monitor SD-WAN, WAN, MPLS, Internet, Backbone, and LAN network infrastructure using network monitoring tools. Identify, analyze, and respond to network alarms, alerts, and events. Perform proactive monitoring to detect network degradation and potential outages. Monitor circuit utilization, packet loss, latency, jitter, and bandwidth consumption. Ensure adherence to SLAs and operational procedures. Incident Management Perform first-level troubleshooting for network incidents. Create, update, and manage incident tickets in ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.). Classify incidents based on severity and impact. Escalate unresolved or critical issues to L2/L3 support teams and service providers. Track incidents until closure and maintain communication with stakeholders. SD-WAN Operations Monitor SD-WAN controllers, edge devices, tunnels, and overlay networks. Verify SD-WAN site connectivity and application performance. Identify tunnel failures, routing issues, and device health concerns. Escalate configuration-related issues to engineering teams. WAN & Backbone Monitoring Monitor WAN/MPLS circuits and backbone connectivity. Troubleshoot link failures, interface errors, routing anomalies, and performance issues. Coordinate with telecom carriers and ISPs for circuit-related incidents. Validate service restoration after troubleshooting activities. Reporting & Documentation Maintain network operation logs and shift handover reports. Document incidents, troubleshooting actions, and resolutions. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly network health reports. Update knowledge base articles and operational runbooks. Shift Operations Work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment. Participate in shift handovers and operational reviews. Follow standard operating procedures and escalation matrices

Skill Requirements

Networking TCP/IP, OSI Model Routing Protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP MPLS and VPN Technologies WAN Technologies SD-WAN Fundamentals DNS, DHCP, NAT Monitoring Tools Experience with one or more: SolarWinds SevOne LogicMonitor PRTG ThousandEyes Cisco Catalyst Center iObserve Vendor Knowledge (Preferred) Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) Cisco Routers & Switches Fortinet SD-WAN Versa Networks VMware VeloCloud Juniper Networks ITSM Tools ServiceNow Remedy Jira Service Management

Other Requirements

Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or related field. 0-3 years of experience in NOC, Network Monitoring, or Network Operations. Basic understanding of SD-WAN, WAN, and Routing concepts. Knowledge of incident and change management processes.
