Engineering Intern

This role requires associates to be in-office 1-2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. Locations: Chicago, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Mason and Richmond. The Undergraduate Engineering Intern will support engineering teams in the design, development, testing, and validation of computer hardware, embedded systems, software, and integrated technologies for the company’s Digital Platforms and AI Organization (DPAIO). This internship provides hands-on experience working on projects involving hardware and software integration, system performance, automation, and product development while applying engineering principles in a collaborative environment. During the program our Interns will receive an orientation to the company and engage in challenging projects evolving around the rapidly changing healthcare tech industry. Interns are paired with industry professionals and mentors and will be given opportunities to stretch their skills and enrich their knowledge base to achieve a greater understanding within technology. ## How you will make an impact - Responsible for developing strategies, programs and solutions based on business priorities, consumer insights and industry trends that support digital strategy. - Develop, test, and maintain software tools, scripts, or applications that improve engineering processes. - Participate in system performance analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations. - Assist in the development and execution of test plans and validation procedures. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality, and Product Development. - Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and design documentation. - Present project results and recommendations to engineering leadership. - Create, gather and assess market requirements through competitive intelligence and emerging trends, stakeholder and consumer feedback. - Reimagine how technology works to deliver new capabilities, maintain system efficiency, and reinvest in accelerating transformation. - Leverage AI to transform business processes, automate systems, and deliver the best service and experiences for our stakeholders. - Deliver technology capabilities cost efficiently to enable growth of topline revenue for the enterprise. ## Minimum Qualifications - Able to work 40 hours per week for the duration of internship program (May 17 - August 6 2027). - Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or a related field of study. - Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements. - For the Veteran internship, candidates do not need to be students as military experience and training can be substituted for educational experience. ## Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences - Proficiency in technical aspects of computer and software engineering. - Knowledge of technologies such as Java, React, PySpark, Python, SQL, C++, software development and testing, software development and architecture, cloud computing, AI, ML, LLM, AWS Cloud, Snowflake, and Azure. - Ability to convey the problem and solution pictorially using PowerPoint, Miro or equivalent technologies. - Advanced user of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. - Proven analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication abilities.For candidates working in person or virtually in Chicago, Illinois and Richmond, Virginia, the salary range for this specific position is $25.61 to $47.57 per hour.
