Engineering Intern

Leidos is a defense systems and technology company developing solutions for complex security and mission challenges. The Engineering Intern will support modeling and simulation applications across sensor, weapons, and command-and-control systems while collaborating with engineers and scientists. The role involves contributing to multidisciplinary technical projects and communicating effectively within a team environment.

What you'll do:

• Candidate can expect to work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include EO/IR sensor systems, radar systems, directed energy weapons, and command and control systems, primarily for modeling & simulation purposes
• Candidate is expected to have a strong academic performance that lends itself towards a technical capability to support overlapping engineering/scientific/developer disciplines
• Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team

What they're looking for:

• * Candidate must be actively enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree program from an accredited university in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, physics, software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or scientific program
• * Experience solving problems with MATLAB/Python/C++ or equivalent
• * Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• * Must be able to work between 12-40 hours a week
• * Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to a fast-paced and highly productive work environment
• * Interest in working multiple programs with proficiency in C++, MATLAB, Python, and/or C#
• * Experience or interest in one or more of the following: EO/IR/RF phenomenology, image processing, signal processing, Kalman filtering, GPU programming with CUDA experience, developing AI/ML solutions
• * Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following: recent stellar academic performance, a Secret clearance
