Engineering Intern - Manufacturing

MAHLE is seeking an Engineering Intern - Manufacturing to support manufacturing engineering activities in a plant environment. The intern will assist with process improvements, CAD layouts, tooling design, Lean manufacturing, problem solving, documentation, data maintenance, and productivity improvement projects.

What you'll do:

• Assist in development of process prints, future cell layouts and moves – CAD Layouts
• Assist in process improvements and cost reduction projects
• Assist engineers with design and implementation of fixtures, tooling, accessories, etc
• Participate and/or lead problem solving activities
• Assist engineers with creating Manufacturing Instructions, Standard Work & Training Documents
• Participate in Lean manufacturing teams
• Conduct time studies and help with routings
• Data entry and maintenance of engineering items within SAP operating system
• Confer with engineers, production personnel, maintenance, or others to resolve machine problems or malfunctions
• Must be able to work effectively with operators and other manufacturing support staff to solve problems and improve productivity
• Create flow charts, spreadsheets, and presentations in support of staff projects
• Lean process analysis and value stream mapping

What they're looking for:

• Must be enrolled in four-year engineering program
• Must be 1-3 year away from graduation
• Willingness to work in a plant/manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of statistical methods as applied to experimental design and process development
• Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities, or service organizations
• Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization and external contacts related to work assignments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
• Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
• Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
• Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking
• Experience with software such as Excel, Programming languages, AutoCAD, Inventor is preferred
