About this role

 SUMMARY:

Provide engineering/technical support to the group and administrative leadership support to operational supervision. Incumbents will have direct reports that include engineers and designers. Role will include both billable client work (project work) and leadership responsibilities. The incumbent is expected to lead projects, perform responsible charge engineering duties, manage project schedules as well as participate in employee development, recruiting and business development activities.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 Coach and mentor other Engineering professionals on complex, multi-disciplined projects

 Maintain advanced knowledge of industry engineering and technical codes, standards, and best practices

 Review work of subordinate Engineering professionals

 Develop and oversee QA/QC and technical training processes and procedures for assigned offices, work teams, projects, and/or clients

 Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems

 Approve timecards and expense reports for direct reports and assist in annual reviews.

 Assist in recruiting efforts, when requested

 Assist in Business Development and Strategic Planning for the group, when requested

 Perform Project Management Activities on Assigned Client Projects along with Responsible Charge

Engineering Duties

 Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

COMPLEXITY OF WORK: 

Moderately routine: general policies applied. Some decision making.

 

 

RELATIONSHIP OUTSIDE WORK GROUP:

Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Approve timecards and expense reports, assist in annual reviews, assist in interviewing process and recruiting effort.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

 

Required A Bachelor’s of Science degree from an ABET accredited four-year college or University in Engineering preferably in one of the core engineering disciplines (i.e., Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil).

 

Experience

 

4-7  Year(s) Experience in electric utility infrastructure design and engineering.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  State registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

A. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

B. Ability to write reports, Business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

C. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

 

A. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

 

A. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

B. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to clearly communicate both written and orally with internal and external clients and employees.
