Entry-level Backend Software Engineer (Python or PHP) - New York - ONSITE 4X Week

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, provides advertising platforms and software for publishers, advertisers, and media buyers. The company is seeking an entry-level Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend solutions using Python or PHP while collaborating with experienced engineers throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.

What you'll do:

• Assisting with the design, development, and maintenance of software applications using appropriate programming languages
• Participating in code reviews, providing feedback for continuous development process improvement
• Implementing testing protocols to identify bugs, enhance performance, and ensure application reliability
• Participating in agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to enhance team collaboration and project management
• Staying informed on emerging technologies to suggest innovative solutions for software functionality
• Writing and editing technical documentation to support software design and application requirements
• Reviewing literature, patents, and current practices relevant to assigned projects to support the development of robust software functionality
• Working with Quality Assurance to ensure applications meet technical specifications and user needs
• Debugging software to enhance performance and user experience
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
