Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree that is acceptable to the State of California, Department of Public Health for certification as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
A current evaluation letter from the State of California, Department of Public Health, stating that the education qualifications specified in the State of California, Health and Safety Code Sections 106660 and 106635 have been met. A copy of this evaluation letter is required and must be submitted by the closing date and time of this recruitment.
License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license, or equivalent.
Note: Permanent status may not be obtained in this classification. Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 106625, incumbents may not exceed five (5) years as a Trainee. Incumbents must obtain registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health, and advance to the Environmental Health Specialist I classification within five (5) years from the date of initial employment or be separated from County Service. Any time employed as an Environmental Health Specialist Trainee with other Agencies will be counted towards the five (5) year period.
