About this role
PACCAR Engine Company produces MX engines for Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF trucks. The Facilities Electrical Engineer / AutoCAD Design Fall Intern supports facilities engineering through AutoCAD drawing updates, space planning, field verification, facility modifications, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do:
- Update, maintain, and revise AutoCAD drawings for facility layouts, mechanical systems, and electrical drawings
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and assist with system coordination
- Assist with space planning, renovations, equipment installations, and facility improvement projects
- Support Facilities Engineers with field verifications, site walkdowns, measurements, and as-built documentation
- Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established drafting and engineering standards
- Incorporate approved changes and field conditions into controlled design documentation
- Assist with basic project management activities, including task tracking and documentation support
- Help develop and maintain standard work procedures and facilities engineering documentation
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to facilities design, documentation, and processes
- Prepare layout drawings and design support materials for facility modifications and capital projects
- Provide design support through markups, revisions, and redlines
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders
What they're looking for:
- • Intern that has obtained or pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
- • Basic understanding of building systems such as HVAC, utilities, and electrical infrastructure
- • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation
- • Interest in learning project management, standard work development, and continuous improvement practices
- • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
