Facility Engineering - Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer will serve as a Cognizant System Engineer/Technical Authority, supporting system configuration management, health and performance assessment, operability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and design changes. The role also addresses electrostatic discharge, electromagnetic radiation, and lightning hazards affecting sensitive electrical equipment in a nuclear-regulated environment.

What you'll do:

• Seeking a highly-skilled Electrical Engineer to support as a Cognizant System Engineer/Technical Authority for assigned systems
• In this role, you will coordinate configuration management activities, assess system health and performance, and provide overall technical responsibility for plant system operability and maintenance activities
• Works in conjunction with the Configuration Management program for the assigned system(s)
• Prepares configuration control/design change packages for tasks; evaluates the impact of proposed changes and/or modifications to approved safety authorization bases for facilities; and performs troubleshooting and improvement activities
• Applies the systems and equipment expertise needed to resolve technical system and equipment issues in cooperation with other related disciplines
• The successful candidate will be responsible for executing technical support that includes the characterization of electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic radiation (EMR), and lightning hazards
• Operating under stringent conduct of operations, engineering, and maintenance protocols, candidates will be implementing Department of Energy requirements for electrical equipment used in hazardous areas through analysis, documentation, and configuration management of proposed equipment
• Candidates will also characterize electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic radiation (EMR), and lightning hazards to sensitive electronic components, and develop mitigating controls to reduce or eliminate hazards in order to support plant operations

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline
• OR Master's degree in engineering/science discipline
• OR PhD degree in engineering/science discipline
• The applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience,or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or Physics or a related field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
• OR a Master's degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
• OR a PhD in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
• An advanced degree is preferred but not required
• The position requires frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
• The position requires an understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
