About this role
Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a Fortune 500 company specializing in corrugated packaging and white paper products. They are seeking a Finance Co-op intern at their DeRidder, LA Paper Mill to assist with fixed asset audits, support procurement and accounting departments, and ensure accurate and compliant accounting records. The role involves working under GAAP principles and collaborating across departments.
What you'll do:
- Assist in completing required fixed asset audits
- Collaborate and support procurement and accounting departments
- Ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting policies (GAAP) and principles
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What they're looking for:
- Currently enrolled majoring in Business-preferably Accounting or Finance
- Broad understanding of accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices
- Must be a student in good standing with the University
- The student will have either completed the Sophomore year or will have completed the Sophomore year when co-op begins
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Project
- Successful completion of drug screen required and authorization to work in the U.S
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers
- Ability to exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills
- Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solving, ambiguity, and change
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously
- Ability to read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports
