About this role
Amtrak is a railroad company focused on connecting businesses and communities across the country while prioritizing safety and security. The IT Security Analyst Intern supports enterprise IT security teams by monitoring systems, applications, networks, and data for threats, risks, and vulnerabilities, as well as assisting with security incidents, compliance, audits, and security tool administration.
What you'll do:
- Support with delivery of security solutions for activity-based assignments, executing and resolving problems within specified area
- Monitor Cyber security anomalies, investigate, resolve and escalate Cyber Security events, incidents and problems
- Review Firewall, IDS/IPS logs, web content filtering logs, net flow device logs, anti-virus logs
- Support with Cyber Security tools (SIEM, EDR, CASB etc.) administration
- Supports with the evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software systems that provide security functions
- Support security audits and inspecting security logs to uncover possible security violations
- Monitoring security events across the enterprise
- Support with improvements in the implementation of enterprise wide security standards, procedures and guidelines as guided by senior members
- Support vulnerability and risk analysis reports, security system output using commercial tools or custom scripts and documenting found gaps
- Interfacing regularly with staff from various departments to communicate security issues and respond to requests for assistance and information
- Providing security support for application and infrastructure related projects as guided by senior team member
- Assists with problem management, security incident response and forensic investigations
What they're looking for:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution
- Must be actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management from an accredited institution
- Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework or possess sophomore standing at minimum
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Must demonstrate strong written, communication, technical documentation & analytical skills
- Must possess excellent customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated
- Pursuing professional security-related certifications (e.g. Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), etc.)
- Up to 25%
- Experience with scripting languages
- Experience in cyber security specialization (compliance, information security program management, continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessment)
- Experience with SIEM, EDR, CASB, IDS/IPS, AV, DLP UEBA, FW, etc. technologies
- Experience performing vulnerability management assessments
