Financial Analyst Intern (Summer 2027)

Principal is seeking motivated individuals for its Financial Analyst Internship Program. The role supports strategic and financial decision-making through financial analysis, data analysis, research, emerging technologies, and communication of insights to business leaders across areas such as asset management, retirement, insurance, and corporate finance.

What you'll do:

• Evaluating key business drivers and providing recommendations to help business leaders make better decisions
• Leveraging data, technology, and emerging AI-enabled tools to enhance analysis, identify insights, and support business decision-making
• Communicating the results of projects and analyses to leaders at various levels of the organization
• Building relationships with partners across the business to solve problems
• Conducting research and analysis on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors to support strategic decision-making processes
• Assisting in any ad-hoc financial projects as assigned, supplying analytical support and insights

What they're looking for:

• You are working towards or have a bachelor's degree in Finance or related field
• Have a strong academic performance with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Intermediate understanding of finance concepts and excel skills
• Curious to seek knowledge and explore new ideas
• Ability to identify and resolve sophisticated problems through a logical and detailed approach
• Ability to conceptualize, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information to arrive at well-reasoned conclusions

• Proven leadership with community organizations and/or through work experience
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Essbase, SQL, AI-enabled tools, MATLAB, R, SAS, or similar
