About this role

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury supports the financial operations, oversight, and management of state and local governments. The Financial Analyst Intern will support the Division of Local Government Finance through financial data entry and verification, internal reporting, website and disaster recovery activities, and data projects.

What you'll do:

  • Inputting data into local government financial health models
  • Verifying reports are filed for utilities, industrial development boards, and local government debt disclosures
  • Preparing internal reports from the LGF tracking system
  • Helping with website design, monitoring, and disaster recovery testing
  • Coordinating with the Data Manager on data projects
  • Assisting with other projects assigned by management

  • Successful interns are those who are adaptable, able to think critically, work well both individually or as part of a team, and are willing to learn and grow
  • Candidates should exhibit interpersonal and communication skills to communicate tactfully with local governments, coworkers, and others
  • Interns are expected to apply their classroom knowledge to meaningful work responsibilities
  • This position has a 37.5-hour work week with a hybrid in-office/teleworking schedule
  • This internship position is based out of Nashville, Tennessee
  • Depending on the assignment, interns may have the opportunity for limited travel during the summer
  • This position may require in-state day travel to work sites
  • To be considered for the internship program, candidates should preferably have successfully completed at least 6 hours of coursework in these fields
