Job Description Summary

Conduct visual inspections of building fire protection systems, automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), fire extinguishers, and other designated fire and life safety equipment.
Accurately document and report completed inspections to maintain current records and support fire and life safety compliance metrics.
Identify deficiencies or equipment requiring repair and initiate work orders as necessary to facilitate timely corrective action.
Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate identified deficiencies to the appropriate Fire and Life Safety staff.

Responsibilities

Conduct field inspections of building fire and life safety equipment throughout the Main Campus in Orange, including equipment located in corridors, stairwells, and other designated areas.
Perform visual inspections of building fire protection equipment and valves in accordance with established inspection procedures.
Accurately document completed inspections and maintain inspection records to support operational metrics and reporting requirements.
Perform physically demanding field work, including extensive walking, climbing stairs, and accessing various areas of campus buildings to complete assigned inspections.
Collaborate with the Student Lead Fire Safety Inspector to ensure inspections and reports are completed accurately, timely, and efficiently.
Assist Fire and Life Safety staff with fire safety training, educational activities, and other related duties as assigned.
Maintain a professional and safety-conscious approach while working independently and as part of the Fire and Life Safety team.

Required Qualifications

Ability to follow established fire and life safety inspection procedures, policies, and instructions.
Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain organized records.
Ability to identify basic deficiencies involving fire protection and life safety equipment and communicate findings to appropriate staff.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assigned inspections accurately and within established timelines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic inspection, reporting, and work order systems.
Ability to safely perform field inspections throughout campus, including extensive walking, standing, climbing stairs, and accessing building corridors, stairwells, and other designated areas.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a safety-conscious approach while performing assigned duties.
Ability to receive and apply training related to fire and life safety procedures, equipment, and inspection requirements.
