## About the Role
As an SSD Firmware Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, and improve firmware for Micron's SSD products. This role provides hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, debugging, and AI-assisted engineering workflows while contributing to the performance, quality, and reliability of next-generation storage solutions.
## Responsibilities
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop, test, and enhance SSD firmware features and functionality.
- Debug and resolve firmware issues to improve product performance, reliability, and quality.
- Develop and implement test plans to validate firmware functionality and support product qualification activities.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvements in code quality and development processes.
- Document firmware features, updates, and technical information for internal and external stakeholders.
## Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, coursework, academic projects, or software/firmware development activities.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and returning to school following the internship.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming acquired through coursework, projects, internships, or research experience.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, and software debugging concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools and large language models (LLMs), such as Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies, to support coursework, projects, or daily work activities.
## Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship, research, or project experience in firmware, embedded software, or systems engineering.
- Familiarity with SSD technology, storage systems, or computer hardware architectures.
- Experience using development tools such as Git, JIRA, or similar version control and project management platforms.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python for automation, testing, or data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet project deadlines, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.
