Firmware Engineer Intern / Co-op

Eaton is seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern / Co-op for its Residential Wiring Device division. The role supports embedded firmware and software development, electronic circuit design, technology evaluation, product development, standards participation, third-party solution assessment, and product certification activities.

What you'll do:

• Contribute to firmware and software development for embedded systems/microcontrollers
• Support software development using code repositories, code reviews, build servers, and agile methods
• Stay abreast of market trends and emerging technologies globally, with a particular emphasis on embedded and connected systems, and evaluate their potential impact on Eaton’s business
• Support the research and development of business cases in the new product development cycle to understand the viability of proposed products in the marketplace
• Support the enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton’s strategic plans
• Represent Eaton’s interests on councils and committees tasked with developing codes and standards for emerging technologies in which Eaton is investing
• Support and perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop partnerships or identify new suppliers
• Support product certification activities, including UL/CSA

What they're looking for:

• Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar from an accredited institution with graduation no later than August 2029
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
