Food Service Worker
St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Food Service Worker who has an interest in helping those with mental illness maximize their potential.
There is a $2.00 an hour differential for evening hours.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares several parts of a major meal such as an entire entree, vegetable, soup, salad, or dessert.
- Assists in the preparation of meals by measuring ingredients, mixing, boiling, frying, monitoring cooking temperatures, etc.
- Prepares foods on an independent basis.
- Directs and assists entry-level employees in the preparation and serving of foods, and the cleaning of utensils and work areas.
- Receives direction from Lead Food Service Workers who provide specific instruction and review.
Eligibility:
- 1 year previous work experience or training in food service or equivalent
- Lift up to 35lbs
- Introductory knowledge of nutrition, food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to cook large quantities and read and follow recipes.
- Ability to work with and supervise employees in the preparation of food, and in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work long hours while standing.
- Six or more months of commercial, industrial, or institutional cooking.
- Dependability and willingness to work with attention to detail.
- Completion of 6 month probationary.
- No disciplinary action in last 12 months [current State of Missouri applicants].
- Have or are willing to receive Hepatitis A vaccination.
