Founding Software Engineer

The client is a software company, and Raydar is recruiting a Founding Software Engineer on its behalf. The role owns software feature development across the stack with a backend emphasis, partnering with customers from initial discussions through release. Responsibilities include building dependable systems, designing data infrastructure, supporting customer pilots, and shaping engineering practices and product direction.

What you'll do:

• Build and ship features across frontend, backend, data infrastructure and cloud deployment
• Take features from the first customer conversation through release and iteration
• Develop dependable automated workflows, testing and evaluation tooling, and data pipelines, with safeguards that keep system actions traceable and safe
• Design data schemas for large, complex datasets
• Act as the main technical contact for a business customer, understanding needs, supporting adoption and demonstrating value in pilot projects
• Set engineering practices that will guide a growing team and contribute to the product roadmap

What they're looking for:

• 1 to 4 years of experience, or an exceptional recent graduate
• Full-stack ability with a backend lean, able to turn a spec into near-production software independently
• Fluency in Python or TypeScript, plus experience with a relational database such as Postgres
• A solid computer science foundation, including data storage, system design and large-scale service architecture
• Experience deploying applications to a major cloud platform
• An eye for design and a commitment to a polished user interface
• A strong sense of accountability, humility and openness to candid feedback
• A history of starting projects on your own initiative, whether personal, academic or commercial
• Clear communication with customers and a willingness to learn a new industry domain
• Ambition to eventually lead a team and a collaborative, in-person working style
• Background in competitive programming, olympiads or quantitative trading
• Prior experience as a startup founder
