## About the Role Become part of a growing Avionics FPGA/ASIC team at Collins Aerospace. This position is for a highly motivated Electrical or Computer Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027 that will be involved in the design, implementation, verification and integration of a wide variety of high-performance ASICs, FPGAs, and SoPCs for Collins Avionics solutions. In this organization, you will have the opportunity to learn about the best practice design and verification methodologies supporting our legacy and next generation Displays, Computing, and Networking Products. No prior industry experience is required—we’ll provide the training, tools, and mentorship you need to succeed. ## What You Will Do: - Requirements capture, decomposition, and traceability for ASIC/FPGA/SoPC digital architecture development and design. - Work with engineers on RTL design code and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog. - Create UVM constrained random environments using SystemVerilog. - Learn more about creating placement and timing constraints. - Perform synthesis, place and route. - Perform static timing analysis, linting analysis, LEC, and clock-domain-crossing analysis. - Perform ASIC/FPGA/SoPC verification using inspection, analysis, simulation, and test methods. - Assist with the creation of DO-254 certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH). ## What You Will Learn: - You will gain technical experience, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to very influential individuals within Avionics that will help advance your career. - You will gain valuable experience in FPGA design and verification. - You will gain invaluable experience collaborating with our engineering experts. - Have an opportunity to practice with the latest design tools. ## Qualifications You Must Have: - Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session. - Experience writing RTL and test benches using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog. - Experience using FPGA specific tools (e.g. Questasim, Vivado, Libero, Synplify Pro, etc.). - Experience with data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, I2C, Ethernet, CDN, ARINC-429, etc.). Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects. ## Qualifications We Prefer: - Experience with device level timing and clock domain crossing. - Experience with Linux (or Unix), scripting, C/C++, Python, and/or Perl. - Experience with RTX systems, processes, and tools. - Experience with the Atlassian tools suite such as Jira and Confluence.
