About BrightSide Produce:

BrightSide Produce is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to affordable fresh produce in underserved communities. We were founded in 2014 as a social entrepreneurship collaboration between a UST Professor and two teens from North Minneapolis who wanted to make positive change in their community. BrightSide’s primary operations involve helping corner stores in underserved neighborhoods stock fresh fruits and vegetables, providing home deliveries of fruits and vegetables to folks of all income levels, and managing farmers markets in the Twin Cities. Many of our employees are young adults who care about social justice and environmental sustainability.

Tuesday Home Delivery Duties: Arrive at MidCity Kitchen between 3-5pm to pack bags of fruits and vegetables with a small team. Start time will be coordinated with BrightSide team leader. Packing generally finishes around 4:45pm. Then you will deliver 10-25 produce bundles along a delivery route in St Paul. The delivery driver will be responsible for communicating with clients mostly via text message on their personal cell phone, and occasionally via phone call. Most produce deliveries are no contact, and involve bringing the produce to the clients’ doorstep with a text message confirmation.

BrightSide Produce’s Home Delivery program serves a range of customers, including our revenue-generating Online Farmers Market, our Food as Medicine / Produce Rx program that serves clients of community clinics, and our Pay What You Can produce delivery program.

Weekend Corner Store Duties: Work with a partner to stock the shelves of corner stores in underserved Minneapolis neighborhoods with fresh produce. One member of the team will drive the organization’s van. Meet at MidCity Kitchen to pack the van with cases of produce. Then drive along the corner store route, fulfilling orders of fruits and veggies and collecting payment from stores. This is a position where you can gain experience working with diverse stakeholders to improve food accessibility in underserved Twin Cities neighborhoods.
