Posting Summary:
Student Success at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a Student Success Ambassador who must be eligible for Federal Work Study funding as approved via the Teachers College Office of Financial Aid. The Student Success Ambassador will support the team in maintaining academic support initiatives and support services related to student success. This position requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week. Must be available to start as soon as possible and work in-person for the fall term on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Student Success Ambassador will support the Student Success team and will be primarily responsible for assisting with both large-scale and small-scale event planning, coordinating programming needs for doctoral student engagement, and contributing to the success of office initiatives. The Student Success Ambassador will provide a student perspective on student engagement opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Event programming, management, and assessment
- Support the Student Success team to run academic success doctoral student initiatives, including midterm and finals write-in, tabling, and other workshops and events.
- Communicate with local vendors, campus services, and stakeholders to establish relationships around events, supply orders, budgets, and on-site management
- Build out assessment tactics to evaluate event/program success and solicit feedback to reflect on areas of improvement
- Collaborate with other college staff in the delivery of campus-wide programs
- Support the marketing plan related to programming initiatives, student events, and resources available, including creating flyers, social media graphics, and email announcements
Administrative
- Attends weekly 1:1 meetings with direct supervisor
- Support the Student Success team with data gathering to identify best practices to support graduate students at varying levels
- Support other initiative-based needs as requested, including staffing GSLD and college-wide programs
- Serve on office or institutional committees as appointed by the Senior Assistant Director
- Provide clerical support, including email correspondence, data entry, and website management
- Assist students with scheduling peer consultation appointments
- Other duties as assigned

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based on the needs of the department and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedules with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year, students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week (International students may work up to 20 hours).

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought
- Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 5 credits during the fall/spring semesters
- Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement, and the Student Privacy Requirements
- Ability to effectively represent Student Success to individual students, campus departments, and community agencies
- Commitment to student development and social justice
- Able to develop relationships with students, staff, and faculty
- Able to interact at all levels with campus constituents and stakeholders
- Possess excellent organizational skills, creative, strong written and verbal communication skills, and clear attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
- Availability to begin work in August
- Interest in higher education administration, student affairs, or related areas
- Experience with using Canva, Terminal 4, HiveBrite, Google Suite, etc.
Salary Range:
$18.00 an hour
