About the Department
Under general supervision,
- Performs repair and maintenance service for agency's vehicle and equipment fleet.
- Inspects diesel powered vehicles and equipment to assess the repair and maintenance needed.
- Supervises inmate worker and provides hands-on training in the automotive repair field.
- Performs after hour vehicle recovery services on an on-call basis.
- Assists in maintaining tool, material, equipment and supply inventories at vehicle maintenance facility.
Position Duties
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
Work experience involving the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma with experience in repair & maintenance of gasoline powered vehicles and equipment.
Experience and formal training in the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
Position requires experience with gasoline powered vehicles and equipment to diagnose and perform the required repairs/maintenance.
Experience with parts inventory and the use of electronic diagnostic equipment is also required.
Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment.
