GE Vernova - Energy Optimization Software Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

GE Vernova is seeking interns to develop their technical and professional skills through hands-on work with digital technologies. The Energy Optimization Software Engineer Intern will work within Grid Software Solutions on software problems related to wholesale energy markets, with opportunities to apply optimization, power systems, machine learning, and related technologies.

What you'll do:

• Focus areas for this internship will be in Grid – Software Solutions within Services and Engineering functions. In this position, the interns will work on solving interesting problems related to Wholesale Energy Markets

What they're looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a Master or PhD program at an accredited university or credentialed software accelerator program
• Degree focused on Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant STEM majors
• Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Bellevue, WA
• Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
• Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in software, electrical engineering, power systems or relevant areas
• Familiarity with machine learning, deep learning, GPU applications, or quantum computing
• Background in optimization or power systems
• Hands-on coding experience
• Experience with artificial intelligence and conversational AI technologies for developing intelligent assistants
• A strong commitment to a career in technology and passion/aptitude for both software and electrical engineering
• Strong analytical and technical skills with experience in software industry standards and development tools

• Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
• Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
